I was going to get the fairing mounted version to replace my regular fairing mount mirrors. Unfortunately they are slightly bigger than the regular fairing mounts and would not fit the chrome housings so I passed on getting them. Quite a few members from my local HOG Chapterhave the handle bar mounted split vision mirrors and they rant about how good they are.

I've been using the handlebar mounted split vision for about a year and really like them. My wife rides with me alot and insists of following so it is alot easier to find her. It takes awhile to get comfortable with them so don't give up quickly.

I tried the split vision mirrors a couple of years ago and they seemed to work okay in the day time. At night time driving on the interstate, it was confusing to me and I could not judge distances of cars passing me very well with them. I took them off and put the stock mirrors back on.

Removed the outer fairing, un-bolted the old, bolted on the new. Took about 20 min. I will say they are an improvement over the stock mirrors only because of the small convex mirrors in the corners. They are the exact same size as the stock mirrors which means too small. For $80 I could probably have purchased a bunch of 1" stick on convex mirrors...a whole bunch. The convex mirrors on the split vision are angled out and it does increase your field of vision so I'm not complaining too loud.
Just wondering if you still have the Mounting Template for the mirrors and if you are will to part with them. I have the Wicked Image and they did not come with one. I know that I could do it with out the Template but it would be nice to have. Let me know

As I said before I love my split image mirrors. The wife and I spent a total of 4 hours on the interstate today and they are so much better than the stock mirrors to see all of the 18 wheelers and the idiot cagers on the interstates. I think that the handlebar mounts are a lot better than the fairing mounts as they are up and out to catch what is happening behind you.

Well, I was considering the split vision fairing mount mirrors as a replacement for my stock handlebar mirrors but after reading this thread, I think they're off the list.

Like many people, especially us taller folks, the stock mirrors, in their stock position, gave me a beautiful view of my elbows. I installed the mirror extensions (http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...5&default=none) which brought them up high enough that I can barely see the edge of my shoulder which by comparison, is very acceptable. But, as you all know, the field of view is still pretty limited.

So......my question to those of you who are speaking so highly of the split vision handlebar mount versions, my question is....are they taller, or do they stand out wider than the stock mirrors so I won't be looking at my elbows again in the main part of the mirror? If that's the case, I think they'd be worth the money. If not, I'm not sure I'd bother. I've seen them and don't mind the look but the stem on them wouldn't look right sitting on top of those mirror extensions if I still needed to use them.

Thanks for any clarification!

Ride Safe,
Steve R.

The split image handlebar mounts are about the same height as the stock handle bar mount mirrors. But with the small panoramic mirror they have you will not see your elbow. I am 6' 1" and on my 2007 Ultra they work just fine

Have them on my 08 Roadglide, along with the Heritage bars I am very happy with both.

If you are seeing your elbow, rotate the mirror and/or stems outward. Or am I missing something here?

I wanted the split vision as well.Thinking the convex was movable, separate from the primary mirror, but it is fixed so I passed and am still hunting for a alternative
