So if i enable rev extend on a pc5 it will let my tach go to 6200? The stock tach only goes to 5200 and just feels like the motor stops at that speed is that the rev limiter?
Yes that is the rev limiter telling you that you are there. "Bouncing off the rev limiter" is holding the throttle open to the point where the motor 'bumps' against it again and again if you hold the throttle at that point long enough. Not a good thing to repeatedly do though, in my opinion.
If you have a Stage 1 as a minimum setup on your bike I believe you are safe to raise the limit to 6000 rpm. I do not know if the PC5 will allow you to set infinite stops or only in 1000rpm increments.
I have read here that the dealers will raise the rev limit to 6k on a Stage 1 setup, but I highly recommend that you research this before doing so yourself. You should be able to find plenty of info doing a search here....
I have a stage 1 with the SEPST (OEM) tuner, pipes, and air cleaner on the 09 UC, and I never go past 5200 anyway as to me wringing out every little bit of available revs adds little value and may contribute a bit to motor longevity--again just my opinion.
Hope this helps..
On the PC-V enabling the Rev-Extend feature will raise your rev limiter, but the tach will only display to 5000 RPM, yet the actual engine RPM will continue to rise to 6000 - just listen to it. For some reason Power Commander can't get the tach to continue to display (needle continue to move) past 5000 RPM with the Rev-Extend feature enabled.

The tach will go to whatever RPM the rev extend allows the motor to rev to.
I believe you will need a stage one down load along with the PCV to show the tac going past 5000 rpm. Without the downn load it will rev to 6000 but not show on the tac.
Well ya learn something every day. My apols if I have introducing misleading information. I would have never thought that a tach wouldn't read the actual RPM on adjustment of an aftermarket tuner rev limiter.
The jury appears to be a bit split on this one-- can someone please confirm that has actually encountered this? Is it only on PC5 systems?
