I was looking at the Fat Baggers website and noticed they make a relocation kit for mounting your quick disconnect backrest or tour pack. Looks totally hidden as opposed to the 4 point docking harness from Harley Davidson that sticks up on either side of the rear fender. However there aren't allot of detailed photos.
Has anyone installed one of these?
Wouldn't mind some feedback on it before I buy one.
I have one......good quality. I just ordered the tour pak mounting bracket from them. I will see how this fits on the relocation kit hardware.
The good.....
*It gets rid of the 4 point hardware wich I had.
*Really cleans up the rear fender.
The bad.....
*Can't use my luggage rack.
*No instuctions.
*Saddle bag lids hit the quick detach hardware when opening and closing. You can do it without hitting, but you gotta be really, really careful.
I personally like the relocation kit. I like the clean look.
I have it too.... i only use it for the backrest...don't have a tour-pack. I actually ordered the HD kit and returned it when i saw the FBI kit. I ride solo 95% of the time so having those big tabs on the HD kit sticking up was really bothering me. The FBI kit is pretty slick. It basically the oposite concept of the HD kit. The "brackets" are mounted to the backrest, so when it's off the brackets are off. As one other member said the instructions were a little vague (i did get some, but the pictures looked like they were taken with a cell phone camera...really blurry)
It is pretty tight. You do have to be carefull when opening your bags, you can knick the inside edge if you don't pull the lid outward while unlatching. and you pretty much have to have the bags opened when removing the backrest.
I'll try to get some pics posted later.
here are some pics of the backrest mounted on the bike
i really like the kit... only negative that i have found it that you have to be carefull and open your bags a certain way or you could scracth the inside edge on the backrest clamp...you have to put your hand on the isde edge of the bag and put some pessure outward while you open the latch with your other hand...it's not really a big deal once you figure out how to do it..it just becomes second nature
