Sometimes you can loosen the right one enough to slide back and remove the set screw, but the bend on the left pipe was too tight and it was easier for me to just pull the whole pipe off.
Thanks guys. Wow, what a PITA! Not real well thought out by V&H. I ended up drilling holes in my heat shield so I can get to the set screw and change them easier. I ordered quiet baffles for them to try to get rid of some popping. Thanks for the quick replies.

It really is a poor design. I put mine on and thought they were too loud. Ordered the baffles and found out that I had to take the whole thing apart because you can't get the shields off to get at the set screw. I was going to drill a hole in the heat shield but figured I wasn't going to change the baffles.
Just re wrapped my quiet baffles today, really would have liked it if there was an extra hole to get to that baffle screw. I considered not using a set screw when I put them back as I think the end caps will hold them but I put the screw back anyway.
I like them, I've never tried the stock baffles. After two years they were sounding a little loud so I repacked the baffles yesterday and discovered I had a loose exhaust nut on one of the head pipes. After everything was repacked and back together they sound very good.
