Default Windshield Height

My buddy is 6'7" and has an '08 Street Glide. The stock 4" windshield is obvioulsy to short for him. He is looking at getting an 8", 10" or 12" replacement windshield. We think that an 8" or 10" should be fine but aren't sure which he should go with. What are other guys, of similar height, using for windshield heights?

Thanks…

I'm 6' and had an 8" on my '07 Ultra. The top of the shield would hit me nose level. If your friend got a 10" I would look at a Windvest. They claim that because of the curve it adds an invisible 4" to the shield. If you don't like the height you get you can call them the day you receive it and send it back to get another height.

Default windshield height

I have heard and read all the info on windshield height and I am not so sure they are correct.

the info says place object 50 feet in front and you should be able to look over

well after riding several yrs and remembering past events, i could have been hit in the face very hard if not looking thru the windshield

as far as the rain i am able to sit straight and look over windshield if need be, also if i put on a full face shield with rainx not a prob

have him sit one the bike, take a 4' level and put it from his chin out to where the winseild would be..measure down to the top of the fairing...should give you a good munber.
anything with a "flip" or "recurve" is helpfull...makes shields "act taller"....Long RIde, Clearview, Windvest.....

p.s. i have the same problem...oh No, thats right i'm 5'6" not 6'5"

Any hight over 6'2" or so I would go with the 10" recurve,I just put the 8" recurve on and Iam 5'11" and its perfect, way better then the stock 12-14" ever was on the EGC...

I have a stock windshield on my EGC, I'm 6,2 and have to really sit up high to see over the top, in the rain it's a problem, anyone have any tips on cutting the windshield down a bit, the idea of trying it scares me

Here's a great section on choosing a windshield.

I took the stock 10” off due to the wind hitting me in the face. The 12” put the top of the wind shield line right in my line of sight. I went with the 15” and it was perfect. No line in my eyes and the wind goes just over the top of my head.

I am 6' on a '10 SG and just put a 8 1/2" windshield on....it is perfect. I wouldn't go any taller.
Maybe the 10" will work for 6' 3".............
