Default The right windshield for me?

Alright guys, so I road my '05 RKC once with windshield and stock equipment when I bought it and immediately took the windshield off for the cool effect. A year and a half went by and I decided to put the windshield on now that i have several mods including a Corbin Seat. Man, I could not get used to the windshield. The top edge of the damn thing is right at eye level -- couldn't quite look over it and couldn't get used to the glare and distortion of looking through the shield. I also didn't feel as stable with the wind blowing on the shield the way it does -- lots of resistence. After a couple of days of riding I took the damn thing off. I got back on and loved the ride much more without the shield. The ride is more stable, no annoying glare and distortion, the wind feels great - yeah I may catch a few bugs here and there but the wind sure feels fine.

Do others prefer riding without windshield or is there a better windshield with improved visibility and more aerodynamic?

I LOVE riding without the windshield. Unfortunately riding without it makes highway riding miserable to say the least.

As far as the height is concerned........I purchased the HD 19" replacement shield. The shield now sits at the tip of my nose, giving me full view OVER the windsield, without losing any protection.
If that's not enough, get the HD 17" windshield. You'll get body protection, but your head will bob like a bobble head doll.

BTW, I'm 5"11" tall..if that helps.

Custom cut the windshield until you are just looking over it when sitting in the rinding position. It is easy to do, and takes about an hour. There are details in the DIY section of this forum.

Funny you should bring this up as I've been struggling with exactly the same thing. My SEUG came with the 6" dark smoke windshield. It looks really cool but the bug that smacked me in the cheek just below my goggles thinks otherwise. I'm not sure if I wiped off bug guts or blood but then again, I don't think my blood is yellow......

So, I tried the harley 12" windshield. That gave me protection from the bugs but the sucker was right in my line of sight. I suppose that's a good thing since it made me look higher than normal when I took the ERC and they are always telling you to look up. Hell, if I wanted to see *anything* I had to look up.

So now I am going for the comprimise. Kuryakyn sells an 8" windshield that I hope will make the difference. At least it better make a difference or I am all out of options .
