Default Brake Pad Life?

So how many miles are you getting on your front brake pads? Certainly there will be a wide disparity because of any number of factors. I was kinda surprised my pads were done at just under 11K (about 1,000 miles more than the front tire lasted). Both inner and outer pads were worn about the same. The rear still has most of the pad remaining as I would expect, since I use it pretty lightly if at all. Of my 11K almost 5K was on a ride to Montana and back so there was a fair amount of "just rolling down the highway" miles.

I'm not really complaining, they're simple to replace and work quite well. Especially considering 800# bike along with my 220# (but I'm on a diet ) weight. On my previous Harley, a 2004 FXDXI, the original front brake pads made it almost 18K. They did not work as well as the Brembo's on this FLHT though.

I questioned the local dealer's service manager, he said "depending how hard you run, anywhere from 8,000 to 15,000 is about what you'll get".

I run Lyndall Z+ pads and floating rotors on both bikes. At 11,000 hard miles on the Night Train since I switched, I've got plenty of pad left. Lyndall advertises 18,000 miles out of the Z+, and so far I think that may be a little conservative.

+1 I've got about 10,000 on my Z+ and they look like I just put 'em on.

Thanks, I'll look into Lyndall pads next time. I had dealer points to use up so I purchased stock replacement pads this time. Otherwise my replacement pads would have been DP's.

I still have the OEM pads on my 07 UC front and back. Just turned over 112K miles. Still have 3MM of pad left on both.

Totally depends on how you ride unless manufacturing defect. Mine has 52k+ on front and rear changed twice once under warranty due to bad rotor.
