My prayers to the friends and family of the victim, and my curses to both the killer of this fine man, and to the BS legal system that keeps putting $hitbags like him on the street to kill more of our innocents.
IMO DUI-related fatalities should be tried as murder cases, not manslaughter. If you get drunk and get behind the wheel of a 4000 lb. missile, you KNOW there's a good chance you could kill somebody. Until the law starts treating this problem as a capital crime, there will be no reduction in the number of people killed by drunk drivers.
So now a good man is in the ground, a family devastated, and this dirtbag will go to jail for a year or so on our dime, go to rehab on our dime, then be released to do it all over again.
He's proven that being arrested won't stop him (repeat offender) and he assigns no value to human life (ran over the guy then fled the scene) so what makes him any different than any other murderer?
A single .22 bullet in the ear will cure what ails him, save the taxpayers a ton of money, and permanently remove a threat from our society- at a total cost of about a nickel. But that won't happen- we'll **** away thousands on trials, appeals, jail, & rehab, just so he can be released to kill or maim again.
Makes no sense to me at all.
