Thumbs down What a crock!!

A buddy of mine takes is '09 Ultra in to the dealer today, armed with all the recalls and safety bulletins I've provided him, courtesy of this great site

They give him a new front tire, fix the tank issue, don't know what they did on the swing arm, and tell him that he needs to have his 5,000 and 10,000 mile service performed by a dealer or the MOCO won't honor his warranty.

I try to tell him that a load of bullsh*t, but he won't believe me. I explained to him if that was the case, he would have to run HD oil as well, instead of the Amsoil he put in at 1,000 miles. He said, "No, that's OK, that won't void the warranty". I said "I know, but you're telling me that if they don't perform the service, the warranty is voided and you change the oil". He's like "oh no that's OK, if I have to, I'll change the oil and have them do the rest, if it costs me $150 for each of those services to keep my warranty, oh well'.

I used to have some respect for the dealer he went to, but I can't believe that.

I can't believe he believed them.

Anybody else hear of this scam?

Tell him to ask for it in writing. I will bet they change their tune real quick.

I have a HD certified technician with his own shop here and he tells me that as long as you have the paperwork with the certified shop info and your vin number on it, that it doesn't matter WHO does it. Am I right? Sounds like that dealer wants to make some green.
