I am new to the world of cycling and truly enjoy this forum. That being said, I have a question about the true duals. What are they? what is the difference between them and stock pipes?
The difference is the duals do not have a crossover like the stock headpipes.
You will get balanced sound in comparison to the stock headpipes and mufflers. Most of the exhaust exits the right pipe on a stock set-up.That being said most will beg to differ but the stock headpipes will perform as well if not better than the dual set-up in most applications.A good 2 into 1 is better than all of them.
It's been discussed 10,000 times at the very least. True duals
Appearance and sound are matters of opinion but I happen to agree they look and sound better than stock.
Performance? Two bikes being equal no way.Yeah you get better performance because you change the air filter and add a tuning device at the same time you add the duals.Of course it is going to perform better than the stock configuration you are comparing it to.
Change the air filter, mufflers, and add a tuning device and the stock headpipes will perform just as well or better than the duals.
Oliver is right about the performance. Most who install true duals forget that they have done something else to the bike at the same time. The increase in performance that they see usually comes from better breathing (a/c or mufflers) or from a good tuning job.
That said, I will soon put on some Bassani power curve true dual headers. If you are interested in duals + performance you may want to check into them.
The main thing ... do what you want ... it is your bike and you're riding her.
I had my 05 Road Glide dynotuned when I completed my stage 1.....screaming eagle air cleaner and HD touring slip-ons. I also had it dynotuned when I installed my Rinehart True-Duels. Where I did notice on the graph a little bit of a flat spot in the middle, I did pick up some horse power and a noticeable increase in grunt torque.

Hey StL Mike, I've got an 05 Roadie too, same stage 1 set up. I'd love to see your dyno charts or at least yout HP and TQ numbers on both if possible. Exhaust is my next move also or 95"
Thanks in advance
