If carbs are so easy to jet how come Ive had to fix so many of them over the years? Seems everybody THINKS they can jet a carb but so few can do it right!
EFI has been standard on cars and trucks for well over a decade. Its here to stay and you have to deal with it if you want a new bike!
Nobody was getting 50 MPG on 100+ HP carb bikes, more like mid 20-low 30 MPG!
Harley C.V. carbs are easy to adjust. Webers, not so much. I've messed with everything from S.U. Jaguar carbs to Webers, back in the 70's. The S.U. was simple and the Keihin C.V. is a lot like the S.U. just not as cool looking. I have no idea why you have had to fix so many carbs. Do you really think you are the only one who can adjust a carb on a Harley? As for American cars and trucks, F.I. has pretty much been standard since '88. So what? Harleys aren't cars and the Delphi F.I. on an '06 Streetglide doesn't even have O2 sensors like cars have had for a long time. It really isn't state of the art at all! A carb is nothing but a controlled gas leak, but still performs as well or better than F.I. on Harleys in the crowd I run with.
Call me Nobody, because I got a tad over 50 m.p.g. while breaking in my 95" motor with the Dave Mackie Megasphere kit, 590 cams, adjustable ignition module, and 45 Mikuni. Never dynoed it, but it beats bikes that have been rated at over 100-100.
I will agree that this discussion has been beaten to death.

NOWHERE did I say Iam the only one that can set a CV, BUT there are a **** ton of people that cant!
The reference to cars and trucks was to point out that is was inevitable, if anybody thought Harleys were gonna be carbed forever they were living in a dream world.
Is it the most sophisticated FI out there? NOPE! Is it night and day better than a carb? Yep, if you can wrap your head around it, but then again some folks cant figure out 4 circuits!
Sounds like your EFI buddies need to find a new tuner so thier bikes will run right!
