Between the TC96 with 255's and a full-Stage II? Yes, I think you'll definitely feel the difference. You have +7ci and 0.7 higher compression. The question is, how much is enough for you?

After much debate, the ONLY way I would consider the benefits of a 103 over a cammed 96 is if you did either build YOURSELF and cut out the cost of a shop doing the work. I did mine in my shop and bypassed the cost of having it done so it was WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY worth it to me. Otherwise, cam it and forget it.

On a side note: I had the priviledge of watching a stock 96 204 cammed bike with a FatCat get professionally tuned this past weekend and I was impressed! The lope the 204 generated on this bike was phenomenal! Power was good too. As so eloquently stated by a previous poster, it all depends where you want the power to come on.

The 204's have a little more duration and overlap than the 255's, and will work better in the higher rpms than the 255's. That's why they will post somewhat higher hp figures than the 255's. However, the way the 255's come on right off idle will make them feel stronger to many riders. If you ride two-up, if you like to have the power to cllimb hills without downshifting, the 255's can be a very satisfying cam. You will leave some horsepower on the table, though, and some guys don't like that.
I think this as good an assessment of the characteristics of these two cams as you could make.
