Amsoil
I say yes!! Been using Amsoil in both bikes (99RKC,03RKC) for long time. Has gotten easier to find past year or two. Seems to be a lot better than SYN3. Mobil1 is good choice if you can't get Amsoil.
Amsoil is Mobil 1 base with their additives, so you might as well buy the M1 V Twin @ Walmart.
It'll still cost you $9 bucks a quart though, but probably 3 bux a qt cheaper than Amsoil. Food for thought...

for me, it all boils down to access. for example, you're riding near the town of "resume speed" iowa, and need oil, then you're out of luck. i choose to use an oil which i can get at every sizable town. i would be using royal purple, but when the auto parts stores went from 7.99 a quart to 13.99, screw that, back to syn 3 for me at 9 bucks a quart. i'm sure every high end oil has its strong points, but i stick with what i can find readily available.
Having two cases of oil in the shed seems pretty accessible to me. If I'm taking a long trip, I take a quart with me. If I need more than a quart, I've got larger issues and I'll replace it with whatever's available. IIRC, I pay around $8.70/quart for Amsoil and I don't have to go see the mutants at Wal*Mart.
The fact of the matter is that any oil that meets the same SAE standards as H-D requires for our bikes will work just fine as long as you change the oil every 5,000 miles and make sure you check your level frequently. If you ride 3,000 miles a year and keep your bike for 3 or 4 years, you're pissing money away on synthetic.
I use synthetic because I ride year round in temperatures from the teens to the hundreds, and over 20,000 miles a year. I use Amsoil because I'm lazy and can order it in my underwear at 3am and I know I'll have it in 2 days. Doing so also supports two forums I belong to, so for me it's a no-brainer.
