You will get an array of answers here. You can run about anything in them as long as your not pinging. The newer models recommend 92 or higher.

Around her 92 is high as they go at the pump unless you buy a racing fuel like turbo blue.

If your engine is not built and tuned for high octane fuels, running higher octane fuels will result in lower power and increased emissions. The post that said use as low an octane as you can without engine pinging is right. I mostly run 89 octane with no problems. On hot days when I am moving slow, like at rallies, I will up the octane to 92 or so.

I use Shamrock 93 octane fuel locally. My '07 RKC and '09 Ultra Classic owners manuals recommend 91 or higher octane. I read a post a few days ago where some was using 87 octane and said it ran fine. I don't believe that. He may just think it's running ok.

I like the shell 93 octane and I use a fuel additive in case the fuel is a bit lower than rated. The manual says 91 at a min tho.

I use premium. Have run mid-grade a few times with no obvious differences.

I use "premium" exclusively in my '09 FLTR (and my wife's '09 FLHX) and have never had ANY issues under any riding conditions. What's "premium" can vary from station-to-station - typically either 91 or 93 octane.
