I will soon be buying an Ultra Classic Limited and have read many threads about engine heat and solutions. I would like to have an engine temp. guage. Any suggestions about what type and where it would connect to the engine? Thanks in advance for your assistance.
dont know much about the temp guage but I do know that the Ultra will sure heat your right leg when riding in warm weather, even with the vent open. I took lower fairings off and it sure helped cool the heat on the right leg.

I am installing an oil temp gauge as soon as it comes in from Zanotti's, to replace the air temp gauge. Should be much more useful than knowing what the outside temp is.
30.$ @ Harley shop will get you an oil temp. gauge made in China with a H-D logo to replace oil tank filler cap on 96" Heritage Softail. Not much for accurate amount of oil dipstick but good monitor of temp. Just don't try to check temp. while riding.
I'd order the matching oil temperature gauge from HD. There is an auxillary bolt on the oil pan. The sensor threads into there. The harness zipties neatly on the right side of the frame and you can barely see it. It takes around an hour to install. Maybe have the dealer do this before you take delivery?
If I ever bought a Limited or an Ultra, the first thing I'd do is replace the stock pipes with Fuel Moto's 2/1/2 pipes with Jackpot mufflers and PC V. That would get rid of the catalytic converter, boost performance, and probably solve a lot of heat issues.
For life of me I can't figure out why the Moco put a stock cam in the Limited. They should have put a SE255 in there. Then again, this has been covered in other posts...
I thought I read some where someone was making a oil temp/head temp guage all in 1,but it could probly also be done with a toggle switch,if they dont make 1 I guess I should and patent it ,LOL
