Save your money on an oil temperature gauge and buy an oil cooler and or an H-D fan.

Have the silver faced HD oil temp gauge replacing the air temp unit. Would prefer a cylinder head temp gauge but have yet to see one other than one off racebike applications. Running the factory oil cooler w/thermostat. 2003 FLHTI

I have both and if I had to live with just one I would probably pick oil temp. However, head temp is a more timely reading of actual engine temp, as when the engine gets hot the oil temp is slow to follow, the same being when it cools down. I watch both and marvel at how head temp can be high with oil temp still low, or vice-versa as it cools down.

Unfortunately, HD doesn't make a head-temp gauge, and there are few that are custom-fitted for Harleys. Dakota Digital makes a digital head-temp gauge that fits in one of the fairing slots, but it is pricey. I'm getting my reading from a PCV LCD display which shows any info you can get in the PCV software, including head temp, AFR's (if AT), fuel adjustment, throttle position, etc.

BTW, I agree with Bikes that everyone should run an oil cooler, but I would still want the oil-temp gauge.

Don't know nothin' except my 96" softtail. Little of that! My H-D shop has an excelent parts supply and helpfull employees. Plus they have a free 600 page parts catalog. Not the 55.$ service manual. J&P has a thick & nice H-D catalog free for the asking.
