Default Ooops ?

So..... I take my 09 Ultra in today for the fuel tank recall and have them update the ABS and HK stereo. I also tell them that I don't think my security system is working and could they check that for me. Come to find out that my local dealer, while they are really great, let me ride away last fall without either of the fobs being assigned to my security module. Somehow my bike was picked up from another dealership because my local one didn't have the color I wanted. My local dealership assumed that the "other" dealership did the initial service and now I wonder what really all was checked over when I bought my bike. I never noticed that the little red key wasn't flashing until last week when I was changing the PIN number and doing my 1K service to get ready for the riding season. I only rode the bike a couple of times last fall when I got it and was learning the radio controls, how the cruise and intercom and CB worked, etc. It never dawned on me that the security was never ever activated ? I couldn't give my local dealership a hard time about it but did tell the guy... how the F*** does that happen ? You buy a $24,000 bike with security and it's never activated ? At any time, anybody could have just walked up to my bike and took it away......The guy really couldn't say too much but I'm sure he knew it was messed up that my security was never activated.

Just goes to show you that you have to check every little thing over.

How does it happen? They got your money and didn't give a crap after that. Sad but true.

Yes the dealer scewed up, but now you will realize the security works because you will try to do something in the garage and the bike won't do anything. I still do it all the time and then say "Chit I forgot my keys". lol

I hear what you're saying, but I truly don't want to believe that. Heck.. I want to feel that my dealership just made an honest mistake, but I'm just besides myself that anyone could have just walked up and started my bike with no key or fob present. Something like that just shouldn't happen. I'm only posting this as a warning to other forum readers to make sure when they get their bike with security to make sure it's activated when they pick it up. There was so much to learn about the Ultra when I picked it up that this important little tidbit was left out of the process.

Drinking an ice cold Miller Genuine Draft on my day off...

Good for you but I hope this is not the reason why the dealer overlooked it.
