Memphis, TN - Areas to avoid?
You will have a better chance of living if you go out east. Nice motels on 40 east of town. If you go downtown dont wonder off track. They are there and waiting. Had to pull my gun a month ago down there. Had a good time.
A few BBQ joints there....cant remember the names...Worth a stop!!
Gibson guitar factory worth a stop...Interesting how precise Gibson specs are and what they do with the rejects....
At Graceland there is a side museum that has Elvis Vehicles that he owned...Some were sold and bought back or donated to the estate...I enjoyed that...
If you go, get there early and give it time, alot to see...If you care...
Say "Hello" to Elvis for me!!

For a place to stay, I would check out the Radison just off the I-240 in Germantown. It is visible on the east side of the Expressway. If you are coming up from Mississippi, From the I-55N, take I-440 east past the Airport. Go around to Poplar Ave. (US-72). It is a nice area.

You mean I-240....right?
Not sure what you meant by "not that kind of vacation" but you should definatly be packing if going to Memphis. Go check out Hraceland, then get the hell out of there before sundown. Memphis is a crime ridden chit hole.....trust me, I've lived here my whole life. Stay at the casinos or come south to Olive Branch. Shoot me a PM and I can put you up in a nice hotel down here for cheap
Volt
Memphis has one of the highest crime rates in the nation. I would go down to Tunica, even though I'm not a gambler. Bartlett or Germantown, as suggested, would probably be O.K. too.
Could just stay at the Peabody!

Man like evryone says, do not leave your scoot out at night around the graceland area, its called whitehaven, and it could be a bad area at night or day,, also you can stay just to the south, in Mississippi, southaven area, plenty of hotels, and your about 5-8 miles from graceland and its attractions, the new harley dealership is on chruch rd right off I-55, all nice areas with eats, but you are better off not laying over in memphis.. enjoy the trip.
