6 to 8 hours is the norm.

If done a few sets of bars. I would say with cables, lines, internally wiring the bars 6 hrs on a dresser is fair. I'm about to put Yaffes on my bike as well. Do it yourself, its not that hard. Just be patient with the wiring. Shrink wrap, baby powder, a small chain, and long hemostats make the wiring much easier.

Having internally wired no less than 10 sets of bars, 5 of them apes, I would take the 6 hours and run if you're made of money.

However, if money is tight, buy the shop manual (60 bucks), and do it yourself. The first time you do a set it could take 12+ hours. It's not hard work, but it is detailed, time consuming work.

Be careful with your brake switch...

Yaffe should of sent you directions. If he didnt pm me with your email address and I'll send them to you. With these directions they give you the color code of every wire that you gotta recconnect. Its a must have for this job!

I installed the OEM Monkey Bars on my road king. Here is a trick for internally running the wires that I used and made that part of the job pretty easy:

Get some strong twine and keep knoting the end until you have a knot just a little smaller than the internal bar diameter. Put the knot in the hole at the base of the bars and then break out the vaccum. Stick the tube attachment over the grip end, turn the vaccum on and cover the holes on the other grip with your hand. The knot will be sucked through the bars (make sure you have the other end attached to something). Use some electrical tape and tape the unknotted end of the twine to the heatshrink on the internal wires leaving enought twine uncovered so you can tie a knot back over the electrical tape. Now pull on the knot end and push the internal wires (after lubing them up) through the bars.

This made the job a lot eaiser than the instructions included that described using the wire included in the kit.

I'll be doing it myself once Canada customs finally releases my bars which have been with them for almost three weeks
