I had the 6.5 KW and got rid of it, too much wind in the face still. Got a regular recurve 9 " with the slight flip on it from LRS and then also ordered a 8.5 KW, but never installed it as I was way too happy with the "classic" 9 " from LRS.
Sold the KW 8.5. If you're looking into windhshields that would be the place I would look first. They also have their version of the KW, it is called the Extreme, and it is much cheaper and does not look like it has melted quite as bad in the sun as the KW does. Good stuff, plus they are a site sponsor, but I would not recommend the KW 6.5 if you are of average heighth.

I bought a 6.5" KW because everyone I talked to loved it. It is way better than my regular 9" Memphis shade, but it still dosn't quite do it for me. When the wind picks up, I get alot of wind noise.I also think in the summer with all the bugs around, I will be wearing them. So today I got the 8.5" KW hoping it will be a little better protection. I will use the 6.5" in around town because it looks great, but on trips ..... bigger is better I hope :P
I'm new to the whole batwing shield game; but I just came from riding behind a windshield on my last 3 Harley's and I have a 6.5" Clearview w/recurve and it is heads and shoulders above any windshield I've ridden behind. I see about 3" above it, which worried me when I installed it, but after riding the freeway at 70+ mph I am convinced this whole recurve thing is genius. I'm 5'7, long in the torso, and it's the perfect size for me.
I even removed my earplugs I've been so use to using, while going down the freeway, and I don't get near the wind noise I was used to. I can hear the tunes loud and clear and I'm as happy as a clam now. GET THE RECURVE style shields, you'll be amazed!!!
Oh yeah, and it's a great price compared to the KW shield, and doesn't have the goofy bends to it. Simple and very effective!
My Electra Glide is the first bike I've had with a fairing or windshield at all. Never rode with a windshield before this bike.
I started out with a stock HD tall clear windshield (never measured it, I'd guess 9" or so?). It did a good job, but I hated the way it looked. So I got rid of it within a week just for looks alone.
I bought a 4" smoke windshield. It looked AWESOME (in my opinion the best looking windshield for the EG/SG). Again, I've never had a windshield so I thought this was doing just fine. Although I was trying to go away from goggles, and only wear sunglasses, and my eyes were watering too much, so I wanted to try something else.
I picked up a 6.5" Klockwerks smoked windshield over this past winter. Started riding with it this spring, and LOVED it! I can wear sunglass no problem! I honestly don't really care for the way it looks, but my friends like it a lot. I never noticed any helmet buffeting, but I have little experience with windshields, so I didn't really know what it was? Since I hadn't riden all winter, I thought maybe this wasn't much better than the 4" (couldn't remember how it rode for sure). So a couple weeks ago I swapped and put the standard 4" back on and went for a long ride. I hated every minute of it! Bugs in my face, helmet buffeting like crazy, eyes watering like mad! None of those things happen with my Klockwerks. When I got home I put the 6.5" Klockwerks back on first thing!
I love my 6.5" smoked Klockwerks for riding. It's not my favorite looking windshield, but it's fine, and for me for a great happy medium of looks and function.

I'm 5'8" wonder what size lrs flip shield i'd need. How tall are you? I want to see over the shield and I already have a c bailey that is similar to the 6.5 kw.. it is fine, but i don't think i like the looks of it anymore.
