I installed 12.5" Wild One Chubbies on my bike last year.

I went +6" on all of the cables. The clutch cable was perfect. The throttle/idle and brake line could have probably been +4" but the +6" look fine.

Novello makes wire extension kits. I used 8" because it doesn't hurt to go long and I wouldn't have to do it again if I want bigger bars later. Lots of venders sell their kits, just Google the part number once you find the kit you need.

Good luck!

It sounds to me like you will need another 4.5 inches? Do some measurements and see for yourself, as that's really the only way.. to tell.

I went +6 with the WO 14s. That was the suggestion by WO when I called them. Just give them a call.

They were about as much help as **** on a bore. The said to install the bars and measure. Well gee, I'd think they would know exactly how long the cables should be for each set of bars they sell. And when my bars arrive, I want everything so my bike isn't down for a week or two waiting on the cables to come.

Glad you had a better experience with them. Is your clutch cable tight?

Yeah, that sucks. They seemed helpful....sorry to lead you down the wrong path. If the cable was 2" longer is would be flopping all over. It seemed snug but that little rubber coated clamp under the acorn nut holds it close. I just got a little bigger clamp. I will try to take a picture tomorrow.

Johnny Vaughn @ HDbikeparts.com, sells all the chubbies and will hook you up with the right length cables as well.

I wouldn't trust any of the retailers on their recommendations. I'm waiting on my 14's to arrive and was told 3 different lengths by 3 different retailers. Best if you mock it up and take your own measurements. Having the right lengths will make a major difference in what it looks like when done. I've been looking at pics here of apes and the cable set ups...some look sweet, clean and tight. Others not so sweet, flapping in the wind. You may want to look at a bunch of pics here and see how the cables were routed and clamped or not clamped to the bars. Then take your own measurements. If those that put apes could post a few pics of how they ran the cables, ie: clamps on the bars, flapping free, etc) I'm sure it would help a bunch of us out.
