Okay here's what happend. I turned my 86 flhtc into harley because it wasn't charging. After a month of waiting they changed the stator and voltage regulator. Day two of having the bike back it breaks down. I rode it all day making about four stop through out the day. Well when I get home I pull into the driveway and hit the kill switch but it keeps running making this awful whinning noise. Getting nervous I try and bog it out but nothing but backfire so I turn it back on while still running and ride it around a bit to see if the noise will go away and after feathering the clutch it stops. I take it back home and turn it off, good right, NO. I go to turn it back on to put it into the garage and nothing but a clicking starter. I paid 650 to get my bike fixed and this is what it get. I fully expect harley to fix it free of charge. They had to have done or not done something last time they were in my primary.
Yes they should fix it, call them and tell them about the problem. Be firm but not demanding.
Mechanics at most dealerships aren't familiar with working on a bike that is that old.
Find a good indy (hourly rates are usually lower) or a service manual for the next problem.
With a bike that old it wouldn't be a bad idea to check/clean all the ground connections and give the wiring at least a visual inspection for damage.
