I just bought a wide open fairing last june after looking and researching all the fairings out there for the money..
I have to say not one bit of trouble with it! my painter also commented on the quality of it also as he does allot of custom fiberglass and paint work ...
If you follow the directions and move your front drivings forward to the front mounting hole it should fit like a glove......
I purchased a Wide Open Customs fairing for my 2008 Road King Classic in June of 2008. After painting, it was a very easy installation. I just pulled off my stock windshield and slipped the fairing into the windshields mounts. In the past 3 1/2 years and 75,000 miles, I have upgraded the radio and speakers, but the basic fairing is still fantastic. Two other friends purchased fairings based on my experience with Wide Open Customs, one Harley and one Honda VTX 1800. The VTX required some adjustment to the brackets because the kit was for a 1300, but all are working great.
Got me looking at the products, I liked the price on the model with the stereo,
but read that the CD will skip due to the angle of placement in the fairing.
what hell good is a cd player that they already say will skip!
Note: Stereo includes a CD Player. The player will skip due to the angle of the stereo in the fairing.
Hey guys, new to the forum but would like to share my experiences thus far with Wide Open fairings. In researching them prior to purchasing I came across this posting and the accompanying comments. I decided to go with my gut as I had met these people in Daytona and liked what I saw. In my first call they were very patient with me answering all my questions and reaquainting me with what I had remembered from Daytona. My second call was to place my order with the questions then coming from them to assure correct fitment. As promised a tracking number was issued and the package delivered within roughly the time promised by UPS. The package appeared to have had a rough trip and being a household that does a fair bit of E-commerce I decided to photo document before opening. Everything ordered appeared to be included and it was only upon extremely close inspection that I noticed a hairline crack in the outer shell and again in the caulking of the seam. Again photo documented. I forwarded the photos via text to the supplied customer service number and heard back from them a couple hours later (after close of business hours). A couple texts later they assured me I would hear from them the next day which I did. They informed me me that this had only happened once previously and they would be sending me a replacement the next business day which again they did. The replacement piece came packed even better and included a fairing bumper which can be used if ever trailering the bike. The fairing has yet to go to paint but so far I am thoroughly impressed with not only the fairing but also in the way they have conducted themselves. Dare I say a far cry from what the original poster of this thread experienced. I would so far not hesitate a bit in recommending them. Gravel

I bought a fairing for my '99 Road King from Wide Open Custom. The fairing does NOT fit correctly and after several phone calls and several emails (including pictures) to the company, they refuse to find a solution or to even ATTEMPT to rectify the problem. I even asked for a return authorization number which they will not provide.
I feel certain there are plenty of other aftermarket fairing manufacturers out there that will work harder in order to earn your money and will provide you better customer service to you AFTER they get your money.

Their advice? Send it back. That's it. Send it back and act like they didn't totally waste my time OR money. Shhhh...just send it back and quit telling people we don't back our product. Oh, and we'll charge you the required return fee and shipping, too.
I'll spend my money to have brackets custom made to make this one work and I'll ride it around and if anyone asks what brand it is I'll just say 'you don't wanna know'. No biggie.
All I wanted to do was let anyone that was in the market for an aftermarket fairing know my personal experience with Wide Open Custom. Not saying nor implying that all potential customers will have this exact experience with Wide Open.
We still don't know any details of your experience with Wide Open Customs..
You claim your fairing didn't fit and several people have posted about excellent fit and finish....
It would be nice to have some details of your experience...
Why/how didn't yours fit and what did Wide Open Customs say about it initially... what is it you believe they should have done, that they didn't do...
You have bad mouthed a company and only supplied generalizations, others have countered your accusations with better than average product & service experiences.
I don't know you or Wide Open Customs... I'd love to hear the "other side" if there are any facts you would be willing to provide.....

You did see that this is a 7 year old thread that some newbie revived for possibly dubious reasons right?
