Had a rear wheel noise on my 09 SG and it drove me nuts. The noise would start when the bike was completely warmed up. HD dealer had the bike on two occasions and finally got it fixed. They replaced the rear wheel berings and the howl stopped. Prior to that they adjusted the belt and who knows what else. Now I am having a lot of drive line backlash along with a clunk sound when I accelerate or decelerate. I have 2500 miles on the bike and I am not sure I am real happy with it. This is not my first HD, but is seems that I am having more problems with this one.

Take your index finger and push on the belt nearest the middle that you can. If the belt moves more than 1/8 inch with only a light push the belt is too loose. I think on my 08, it is 3/8 max with a 10lb push. That is pretty tight, but that is the way they are designed. It if was not lashing and clunking before and all they did was replace rear wheel bearings, I would think it has to be either the belt adjustment or they forgot to put the cush rubbers in. I highly doubt it is the cush! If it ends up not being the belt tension, let us know, I am curious.
do a careful inspection of the belt -- I had the same thing, belt was gone at 5400 miles UOTE=SamB;5277841]Had a rear wheel noise on my 09 SG and it drove me nuts.
