Default Suggestions for cracking 100hp+ on 96ci...

I Have a 07 street glide with true duel rhinehart exhaust with a stage 1, other than that the engine is stock and would love to boost the hp up to or over 100. Can this be done without a big bore kit, like cams and head work, and what kind of cost would be associatied with this. Any suggestions would help, and if you have this done this and dyno tested please include your numbers.

Getting up to 80 or so horses is fairly easy. But pushing past that can be much more difficult and much, much more expensive. The key word being CAN. However, without doing a lot of head work, I don't think you'll get close. I think I would start with the SE 204 cam set and have about 40 thou shaved off the heads (a good shop will "clay it" for you to be sure of clearance). Add a PCV with a quality 2 into 1 pipe and try it for size. The last engine I had built was an 80 inch. I built the carb, (not a kit) installed a cam similar to the 204 and shaved 60thou off the heads. It was a very strong, very streetable engine that gave me everything I needed and no problems to keep it right. If memory serves, it produces 82 hp with 89 lbft of torque, (a stock 80 ran about 48 to 50 hp and about 55 lbft of torque)

I doubt you'll get there with the stock pistons. You'll need at least 10.5 to 1 with head work and matching cams then it will still be a push.

The HQ 107 kits that are popular usually net below 110 hp but have really good torque numbers in the teens.

Your rineharts will limit you on HP numbers but should not hurt your torque too much. A good 2 into 1 exhaust produces better performance.

My 08 had andrew 50 cams,Se intake and reinhart pipes, with power commander,It also came with the dyno sheet. 93 HP 105 ft lb torque. Now it has Se 103'' pistons with 10.0-1 compression, ported heads with 1.9 valves same cams, intake, and pipes and it pulled 111 HP and 118 ft lb torque. So good cams and power commander or other type will get you close i think head work is a must to get 100 +

I'm putting together the parts for my own 103 BB kit. Bought Ebay used cylinders and heads. Sending the cyls out to be bored and have the heads ported with larger valves. Going with KB pistons for 10:1 compression. I going with the S&S 570 Easy start cams so I don't have to mess with compression releases. Some guys say you don't need them at 10:1 other say you do. The Easy start cams should answer this problem.

I also have 3 other parts to install in the primary . . . 1. SE clutch spring, 2. SE compensator 3. Andrews 30T sprocket.

I'm hoping for 100/100 but torque is really what I need for my riding style which is 2up long range touring.

Just my 2 cents.
Steve

I have a supercharger on my 06 StreetGlide with the 88ci engine, and it is pulling 106 hp. As far as I know there are no other mods done othe than commander and Rinehart true duals (which I LOVE!)

a good 2 into 1 and zippers air cleaner element or other high flow intake, along with compression and headwork should get you there easily if you use a good tuner, pcv-sepst-tts, etc, and someone who is good with tuning on a dyno, and someone who's truly a wizard rather than someone who's just guessing what will work.

My wife lowrider is 95 HP 95 TRQ. She is small and I didn't want her to have to much low end torque so I put in 211's, other than that she has 96", V&H duals and S.E. stage I air cleaner. I think with a good set of 2 into 1's she may be closer to 100. I plan on high comp pistons and head work as a winter project. For know it pulls like hell when you get above 300 RPM's.
Here is her dyno sheet, the blue line is the bike with the stage I, the red line is with cams.

Two words:

Nitrous Oxide.

Plenty of room to hide a bottle on a bagger too!

Ok, here's my guess: (I've never attempted this, just thinking out loud)

78cc heads with stage 3 porting, 0 deck height, 1.90 valves, .030 cometic, Se-251 cams, fatcat, SERT. You'll be giving up low rpm performance for a peaky torque curve. Probably not much fun to ride.

If you want 100hp in a rideable street motor, you need to increase displacement. Better to forget the 100 hp as a goal, and focus on rideable performance.
