I wanted to keep my bike nice and clean as well, so I found this mount on eBay and hardwired the power cord to my ignition switch.
When I'm not using the GPS on my bike, you can hardly notice anything.

I really like that set-up! Do you remember where you got it (the mount)?

I found that and thought it might work for me although not crazy about it marring my bars but the ones I saw would only work on 1" bars, unlike my 1 1/4" chubby bars. And looks like you routed your cable same way I did, under the console from the battery???

I bought a much cheaper version...in plastic for under $3 shipped to the door. I figure I can take it on and off in under a minute with the thumb screw and throw it in the saddle bag. So far it has worked out well and if it breaks I'm out $3.
I bought a Tom-Tom car model.. I very rarely use it and when I do i suction it on the tank.... Mine has a 4 hour batt life and I have accessory outlet from Harley that plugs into the accessory switched outlet under the seat and will reach in the saddle bag. I can also use it to charge a cell . When not in use the whole thing stays in the saddle bag.

I wired mine to the ignition under the console and added an inline fuse. When I'm not using my GPS I just tuck the power cord in with the other wires going down by my headlight and you can't even notice there's any extra wire.
