Hey guys,
Need some input.
It's Bike Week here in Myrtle Beach, and I figured it was a good time to get a Stage 1 upgrade done from one of the mobile vendors that do this kind of stuff.
I have a 2010 RK with Jackpot slip-ons.
-Cycle Solutions Racing quoted me a price of about $960 for a Power Commander V, custom mapping, and high intake filter.
-5252 Performance Tuning was about $400 cheaper but did not include the filter or the "custom" mapping.
I noticed my pipes turning bronze a bit at the point where the slip-ons connect and want get that stopped before it gets any worse.
Was wondering if anyone has done business with either of these dyno services and if so would you recommend using them?
Also, the difference in price is so large I'm wondering if I'm missing something. Keep in mind that while I'm not a total idiot when it comes to the mechanical side of the bike, this is new stuff to me.
Any input or suggestions would be appreciated.
I wish I could help more but in 2003 when I did mine,I bought my KN high flow filter put it on myself I think it was 100 bucks, and got a SE download for 225..that was it,oh yeah I installed some slip-ons and drilled the baffles...so today the prices change, but really I don't see spending money on a commander,if you are FI the computer does the work, yeah to run the best your bike can be spend the 1000
Thats too much for a PCV and a intake. When they say custom map are they talking about using a dyno to tune your bike, or giving you a "custom" map for that "custom" setup. If dyno time is included may be a fair price but if those guys suck on the dyno your back at square one where one of the corners ends with you getting ripped off.
Ask them how much for just a PC-V and an Air cleaner, that should not be over $550-600 tops, ($300 for the PC and a couple hundred for the AC max and installed too)and then run that for a bit and if you're not happy then get the tune. I don't have a tune on my stage 1 and am very happy.

Not sure why you wouldn't call Fuelmoto and get the PCV pre-loaded and air cleaner from them. If you have Jackpots from them already, they may work with you on the price. (Unless you rather have someone else do the work.)
Call Jamie at fuel moto and get their 2-1-2 head pipe and a pc from them. The only problem with getting a tune from somebody in a tent is that if you have any issues you're s.o.l. and they're gone. If you want a custom tune have it done by somebody locally and use the tuner that they are most familiar with. My .02

I agree, call Jamie and you will get a good deal for a lot less.

Absolutely +1. You're better off going that way than a tent salesman. F/M would/will always be there for you too as opposed to?
+1 Fuel Moto why go elsewhere your in great hands there for what you want to accomplish and you will never have to look for the guy in the tent for help!
