I have the heritage bars on my 09 Road King standard. Still has the stock seat. This combo works for me, though I will likely change out the seat in the future. I'm 6' even, but I'm also old, fat, and ugly, so I got those working for me - it's the only way to keep the babes away.

Agree with everyone, anything is better than the stock RK bars. I've got stock touring bars on mine, but I also now have a fully functional batwing fairing too.

FYI - If anyone in southern California (Riverside area) is interested, I have a few handle bars for the 2008+ Touring bikes that I need to sell.
  • HD Heritage Style Handlebar - fits 08+ FBW bikes
  • HD Road King High Handlebar - fits 08+ FBW bikes
I've tried to ship them before, but they need a huge box which causes shipping to cost as much as the bars themselves... But if anyone is in the area, PM me.

I put the heritage style bars on my RKC and it feels so much better than stock. For only $200 installed, wasn't too bad on the bank account either.

Just go for the Apes. I liked the Heritage bars better than Stock. Then I liked the Wild Ones W0508 Road King bars better than the Heritage bars. Then I put on the Wild Ones W0502 12.5" Apes. I like these best of all three. If I did it again I might go a couple inches higher on the Apes but I'm happy now and don't plan to change again.

Default I did the Heritage route as well on my RK

Made the world of difference for me but having said that, it is my first foray into changing bars. I have no doubt that there are some other types out there that might be better, but I'm tired of having to store all my trials in the closet or hang them on a wall. It's just becoming too darn expensive to keep trying to make it perfect. I gather as much info on something (mostly from all of you) on something that I might like to try and then try to form a decision. Sometimes it works and sometimes....not. I'm on my second C&C seat trying to get it right because they are without a doubt, the best quality I've ever seen in a seat. Chuck and Jim are trying their level best to get it right for me too.
As far as the bars go, when I look at the parts catalog, I'm so amazed and confused as to what would work or not. I was lucky enough to sit on chaps RK that had the heritage bars.
Exhaust, now don't get me started. That's a whole other issue. They really are a (pig in a poke) I'll keep the factory pipes I removed for when the sound cops get on their horses.

I noticed the same thing. I was going to ship my heritage bars to a guy in Atlanta, GA. He is from this forum and I wanted to help him out. The shipping was crazy so I kept them. Kind of felt bad for offering them to him. I have the same bars if someone local wants to buy them. They also have ISO grips that are in really good condition.
