Default 07 mufflers on 05 Road King??

With the deeper rumble of the 07's exhaust,I was wondering if it is the mufflers or the engine configuration which causes the sound.Local H.D. dealer thinks its mostly the muffler. If so, I might try a set of take offs on my 05 RK when they become available when owners of 07's upgrade their exhausts. What is some opinions??

I'm not sure but you might want to see if the 07 mufflers will fit an 05. I saw a post on this forum where the after market companies were working to make mufflers to fit the 07s so I think this is an indication that they are different but this is just my take.

Good point, did some research and found that Vance and Hines basic slip ons fit touring models from 95 to 07 with the same part number so the fit must be the same.

07s are louder because the l/h side is sooooooooo choked off, thus most exhaust is going thru drivers side.O2 sensors probably can control rear cylinder better this way.

have you had a chance to hear the 07 muffler up close, in my opinion they sound about the same as past years, with that nice VW rumble.

Heard a 07 streetglide, it was louder and sounded better than any stock hd muffler yet, Just read on here that putting mufflers on a 07 will be easy because the upgraded EFI will adjust itself for this. And that 95 up mufflers would fit. So if you just wanted sound you could add slipons and switch back to stock to take to the dealer if a warranty issue came up.
