I had some bad luck a few weeks ago, one of my wire wheels came apart...Me and the wife are going on a two or three thousand mile trip in two months from now, so I thought I would put cast wheels on just in case we have a problem I can plug or use whatever until we can get to a dealer..these are not exactly what I was dreaming of but will do for now..cant see much of them but what do you think?
I prefer cast wheels when touring around (which I have on both of my bikes)....Wife has laced wheels on her heritage and while I love the look of them we're always prepared to call for a tow truck if she has any tire problems when out riding.
If you mean it's a one piece cover for the disc and caliper, I'd remove it, spend a little time on the caliper with some simple green, a few rags, maybe a beer and be able to see the new rims.
Where did you get the rims? Expensive? I've also been thinking of doing a 'non wire' rim for traveling also. I'd like to find something in chrome that looks similar to the wires that willlook good with the ww tires. The new Ultra Limited rim in full chrome would be great except it's for 2010s.
