I lost my spring on the way back from Sturgis last year. My kick stand was still in place so I rigged it up with a bungee cord so it would stay up while riding. Now I do carry an extra spring.

what? goldwings don't use springs on their kickstands?

if you've never had to change a jiffy stand spring, it is too easy. loosen 1 nut, on the locking tab, swing the jiffy stand forward, put the spring on (you can do it by hand here), swing the jiffy stand back, and then put the locking tab back on. 5 minute roadside fix. and yes, been there, done that.

If you're so worried about it, Just change the thing every year or so and keep it sprayed with WD40 or something. I doubt they're very expensive.

or better yet, go back to your goldwingy

I have an EZ-UP center stand, so I'm not worried at all. If the jiffy stand broke, I'd just use the center stand until I could get it fixed.

The HD jiffy stand is an amazing design it works for the most part with out fail and when put down corecctly it will not fail you can jump up and down on the bike.
I do know Dave Zien the guy that put 1 million miles on his HD broke his off.
He would just lean it aginst a curb.

Wouldn't losing the use of the stand and losing the retaining spring be two different issues? If a temporary solution does not immediately come to mind, here's my suggestion. Pull out your laptop, plug it into the acc. power port you had installed, slide the wireless card in, ask the forum for suggestions and if anyone in the area has a zip tie they could drive out to you.

I see bungie cords along the highway all the time. I figured it was you.
The jiffly stand will stay down by otself, but when riding, just bungie it up.
It you have a helper, duct tape will do.
