I just had my bike in for the 20,000 check up and they notice my Primary was leaking. They told me they had to order bearings to fix it - they said it was due to soft bearings. So my question is do you have any leaking from your primary? I searched the forum, but all I find in the primary bearing seal needs to be replaced not the bearings. Maybe they are trying to do both at once, since they are in there?
Nothing was leaking from my primary. The bearing & race on the inner were shot. I hope this is the last time I have to have the damned primary off. Two months ago I had everything off to replace my entire clutch assembly because my faulty starter wrecked my ring gear. Total repair costs to-date are almost 3 grand. Hooray.

Same here, 07 FLHTCUI, inner primary bearing shot and race was coming out pushing on seal and starting to leak. If bearing comes apart it will take out other stuff with it.
I was on the road heading back from Rolling Thunder the other day when my trans mainshaft bearing crapped out too. An '07 RK with 30K miles and she started that scrapping sound on the way up. Was hoping to make it home but no go. Another Vet told me his '07 did the same thing too at about 30K.
