Just got my Roadglide back from the 10k service. They said I had a busted front mount and they replaced it. It never really shook at idle but now it shakes quite a bit. But it is as smooth as can be when riding. Just wondering if this is normal or if anyone else has experienced this.
Yep its normal with the new style mount, they had problems with the 05 and early 06 mounts breaking. The other week my dads 06 Ultra had to have a new mount installed because the other was broken the bike was bought August 06. At 1st we went nuts because the extra vibration from the new mount wasn't normal for that bike. The dealer road the bike and said it was normal and he had the HD rep ride it, he also said it was normal. Yesterday I was getting a new back tire so I had the dealer look at my mount because I noticed it had some cracking in the rubber. Sure enough it was broken and the new style mount was installed which makes the bike shake more at idel and adds a few other little vibrations to the ride.
I had the same issue here guys. Yesterday, I went in for my 5,000 mile service and they noticed I had the old mount in. They replaced it with the new version. I also have more vibration now, and could feel more in my hands and in the feet. I also kind of hear a different sound now also. But remember boys, we got harleys, they supposed to vibrate, LOL.
just got mine. same deal. shes smooth as silk when riding and vibrates like a harley should at idle. at least i dont have to keep worrying about the stock mounts breaking.
If your talking about the front mount, you know it can be tightened or loosened up with a socket, I tightened my 02 up trying to find a noise and the motor hardley moves, loosen it and it shakes more and more as you back it off, could be the dealers are just seting these new ones at a HD suggested torque to minimize breaking, you could try tweaking it some to see if that changes the vibration.
