Question Plug or Patch?

Advice needed! I rode my '05 Ultra Classic in to work today (95 degrees and 90% humidity) and @ 4:00 when I got to my bike I noticed the rear tire was nearly flat. Where I work was near the base mechanical shop so I went over there and aired the tire up to 50# and headed home. When I got home (~7 miles) the tire was down to about 20#. I pulled what looked to be a small 6d finish nail out when I got the bike in the garage. The rear tire is about 1/2 to 2/3 used so I was wondering what the best plan would be, just put a plug in the tire or to pull the wheel, break down the tire and use a regualar inside the tire patch. The nail was pretty much dead center of the tread. The bike has the the ten spoke revolver chrome wheels with tubless tires.

Plug will work, but i think a patch is best, tube?? get a nail in it and your taking it back off to patch without a doubt. Id just patch the tire. but if its 2/3rds worn, might be a good time to just replace it while its off, beggining of summer, sooner or later that tire is coming off.

Tube it and ride on. I've ridden tens of thousands of miles on nail punctured and then tubed tires.

1. Change it 2. Patch it/tube it 3. In my eyes plugs are a temp fix, I had a plug blow out at 75mph, not good. My 2 cents.

replace should be your 1st option.$150.00 for a tire or $500.00 insurance deductible
remember murphys law.

To be completely safe, I'd replace the tire and be glad the tire had as many miles on it as it did.
