SAY THE HELL WITH IT AND GO ON. A NEW FENDER WILL COST YOU ABOUT 450.00 AND THE ONE YOU HAVE HAS METAL SO THICK YOU CANT REPAIR IT LIKE A CAR DENT.

The same exact thing happened to me and my 'Glide. I put the bell there thinking it was "the perfect location" for it and I soon found out that it wasn't. Less than two hours later I noticed the 'dent' the same OD as the bell on the crown of my fender - I was pi$$ed!!![:@]

Long story short, I was able to remove the fender w/o having to take the front wheel off (it helps having an 18" wheel up front ) and I used a 3M rubber palm sanding block to "pop" the dent back out. One whack w/ a dead blow hammer on the palm sanding block (inverted so the the convex portion contoured the inner fender) and it is nearly undetectable.

Hopefully your paint is not cracked as a result of the ding because if it is replace the fender before rust can take place. If the paint is intact your good to go.

Check out "Paintless Dent Repair"...I've seen it advertised for hail damage on cars. I wish I would have looked it up when I had a similar dent in my front fender. I tried tapping it out and sure enough, the dent came out...but the paint cracked off and I had to have the fender repainted.

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TRYING TO TAP IT OUT YOURSELF!! SEEK PROFESSIONAL HELP.

Whoever suggested the PDR (Paintless dent removal)is right. Any good body shop will have someone that can do it for you. You'd be amazed the stuff/hail they can get out of a car without ever knowing it was there....and its cheap....probably in the $20-$40 range on the high end. Good luck!

Tuff break, go the paintless dent removal route, and by the way that bell is supposed to be as close to the ground as possible---to ward off those pesky gremlins!!!
