I am about to reset my clutch for about the 5th time these last two weeks. Set the clutch cold with about 1/2 turn from bottom. I think I've got this right, maybe.
I am still getting clunks not only at 1st, but in 2nd, 3rd, 4th mostly when downshifting. Hard clunks.
My bike is an 07 RKC without an ISP.
I am wondering if there could be something out of alignment with the tranny linkage?
Any thoughts appreciated.
Enough redline in primary, cable completely loose, cool bike, bottom means where clutch first bottoms. 23,000 on bike.
The clunking you hear is normal As far as I know all the harleys have it. Not an issue. I know several people who own them and they all do it. Including mine.
This product dampens transmission noise (reducing the notorious shifting clunk found in these gearboxes), dramatically reduces temperature, provides thicker oil films between gear teeth and resists throw-off
For all aftermarket versions like Baker, JIMS, S&S, etc.
For all H-DŽ trans including with Evolution engines, Twin Cam engines, and latest 6-speed Cruise Drive
Same fluid as our unique Heavy ShockProofŽ Gear Oil
I went to Mobil 1 V-Twin 20/50 in the primary and it's smoother than with the dino oil or the ATF.
You might pull your clutch plates and give them a good looksee as you rub them down to check for defects. It helped mine. I might have had a few plates sticking a bit.
I do run redline, and have been adjusting clutchs for many moons. Problem is I can probably top end an engine easier then adjusting a clutch.
Boomer you may have given me some insight. I've readjusted and gave a little ride early this morning. It's better, now for a longer ride.
Thanks.
