Just wondering if anyone bought and used one of the new Harley I-Phone tank pouches. Had mine sitting in a bag and was leaving on a short trip tomorrow...thing seems useless? First of it would suck trying to get the phone out? You can't use the touch screen, so you would have to be either wireless or ear piece? No like I want to answer my phone while driving? Also I do have an N-Com, so blue tooth is built in. My review on the tank holder useless!!
Couldn't disagree more. I use it regularly, and it works like a charm. You can manipulate it through the pouch, and I cut a hole at the bottom for my charger cable because I use a GPS app that uses a lot of juice, so I plug it in the my cigarette lighter adapter. My iphone is in an otter box, so I don't worry about the pouch being weather proof. The fit with the otter box is tight, but not too bad. Without the otter box it slides right in and out. I am very happy with my pouch.
Was wondering if the magnets effected the GPS, do you have the TomTom app? Also wondering how that worked without cell signal. Saw that you were using the pouch with an otterbox, I have the defender is that the same model your using? Thanks for your time.
The magnets don't affect the GPS. I figured they would too, but they don't. Only issue I have is that because the IPhone is nearly laying down when it is stuck on the tank the orientation of the screen will sometimes change to landscape when I turn. Not a big deal, just lift the top of the IPhone and let the display change back.
I use the motion-x app, not Tom Tom, and yes I am using the defender. The fit is tight, but it fits. I cut a new headphone jack hole and a hole for the charger cable in the bottom. Neither had any effect on how it works. Also, motion-x does not work without cell signal. I was near the Salton Sea in Cali last weekend, and had no signal.

I have the bag and thought it was great until I rode from here (Tucson) to San Diego and back three weeks ago. On the way over the wife and I were listening to music via the ipod section of my iPhone and it shut down for a few minutes. Then on the way home about 45 miles from Gila Bend it shut down again and did not come back on. I pressed the button and the display had a big orange triangle with an ! in the middle and above it said Temperature. I disconnected it and handed it back to my wife. Once we got to Gila Bend for gas and a break and gas, I turned the phone back on and it was fine after a cooling period.
Bottom line is with the heat of the engine and sun combined it gets too hot. I now have a RAM Mount on my handle bars for the same price that has eliminated the problem.
I went to the HD dealer here in Tucson and they told me that they had had some riders that the magnets can also screw up the battery on iPhones and iPods.
Hmm, never considered the heat. Haven't had any problems here in So Cal. I looked at the RAM, but I didn't want anything attached to the bike when I dismount.
I took my iPod Touch hard case and used double-sticky tape to fix it to the tank divider so it fit the Limited even with the intercom wire in place. Despite being backwards, I could cue up playlists and listen for hours. Its not pretty, but it works well.
I have a cup-holder mount on the bars, so the Ram isn't an option. The holder/mug mug is only in place for morning coffee, but morning coffee is important to me! Most of the time it is detached and the mount isn't too objectionable.
I stand corrected, I thought the touch screen would not work through the plastic. I know when I've wiped my phone with a micro-fiber it doesn't effect it. Getting it into the pouch was tight.....so I figured what a waste. I guess I I used it with hands free it could be aswered fairly easy. As far as Nav and music, I have a Zumo 550 and Sat radio, so that's not a feature I'm interested in. Thanks for making me take another look at it
