Cruise control runaway
So does it work now? Did they reconnect or replace the "brake module"? Was it a Harley "Brake Module"? Did they replace the switch?
My first thought was that dirt in the switch caused it to stick in the accelerate position.
Being stuck in that position might cause the cruise not to set.
Don't know what to tell you about warranty or the dealer. I would bet that some stealers would tell a customer something wasn't covered (have the customer pay) then turn it in as warranty (company pays). They can get paid twice.
Well, I rode home last night, no issues, I rode to work this morning, no issues. She really showed her colors when I left work this afternoon. I set the cruise to 60mph, got to the spot I can ease up to 65 and woowhoo, the ride was on. The throttle took off again, I throttled it off, throttled up with just the throttle and bam, it took off again. I rode another few miles and the cruise would kick in and drive on power, every time I twisted the throttle. I had to turn off the cruise switch just to be able to control the throttle. Needless to say, my next stop was the shop. The service manager met me at the door, I guess the pissed off look was there again. He listened to what I said, got straight on the bike and off he went. Back in about 10 minutes, jsut getting ready to say he saw nothing, when it did it for him coming back toward the shop. So, now I'm happy to say the switch is going to be replaced and he wants to go through the system tomorrow. So I'll let yall know what gets done after that. Thanks for helping me to not think I was nuts, well, I won't really go there.

I had a similar problem problem with the cruise acting erratically, and it was the switch on the right handlebar. Mine would set, but then suddenly shut off, which could be quite unnerving halfway around a curve.

The techs are thinking, "here he comes again with his imaginary problem. Damn I should have laid out of work today.".
