Ok, heres the deal. I know that if anyone can help me would be the people on this forum. I'm going tomorrow to start looking for a new bike. I've been very happy with my 05 Classic and see no reason to up grade or down grade. Just don't know if there are any concerns between 09 if there are any left or 10's. I know there have been changes in both and cannot pinpoint anyone thing that may be a problem. Maybe you guys can shed a little light on any concerns you may have had. My only concern is starting all over after I have mine like I want it, but they don't last forever and its time to move on.
my local dealership owner /former dirt track racer says 09 is the best touring bike yet,the 10"s have a catalyst in the headpipe however most of us loose the stock exhaust any way.

Thanks for your help.
Why not hang in there a couple months and see what 2011s look like?

That has also been in the back of my mine. I just would like the bike to have been tested a little before I buy one. It seem that HD is letting the John-Q public gennea pig there bike for them here lately. You know, just saying.

If that is your scoot in your sig and you don't have a billion miles on it then I would stay with what you have.
the '09s ride better, are balanced better and handle better than the '07s or '08s. However, they sit a bit higher so that can be a problem for shorter riders but a lower seat can take care of that. Only issue is the front 407 tire. Gets replaced on warrantee if it starts to wear so just something to be aware of.
Personally, I'd consider the Ultra if I were you. But as far as the 09 vs 10 EGC, the only differences I can think of are:
1) CAT in the 2010
2) Helical cut 5th gear in the 2010
3) Running "LOW" seat change in the 2010
4) Dunlop 408 on the 2010 (not much trouble to get the 407 upgraded to the 408)
Might be more.
All in all, I think you'll be happy with either year and should look for your best deal. Also might be a good time to start pulling some of the transferrable "goodies" off of the 05.
Good luck on the new bike and post some pics once you get the new ride.
What Clint said. I mean there's always a few changes that you'll almost never know or find out about - such as manufacturing improvements to prevent rust in the rear swing arm (lucky me - I had the problem even in my 2010).

Until very recently (common sense kicked in) I was waiting for the 2011 vivid black Ultra Limited. I have now decided to keep my 08 and just enjoy the ride, for a few more years that is.
Other than the cat in the 2010 (which would have to go) I dont think you can go wrong either an 09 or 10. Just a matter of finding the color and deal you're looking for.
