Default 2010 ultra first ride impressions

old scoot 06 classic with 1550 stage 2. the 10 is very smooth, little vibration at bars, curves are a blast, stable, no headshake, cant believe a 1000 pound touring bike could be called fun in the twisties, 6 speed trans excellent, why does everybody whine about it?, brakes are ok, better then 06,but could be firmer(no abs),96 motor does not seem happy under 2000 rpm, starts to vibrate like its lugging, even under very light load, dunno thought the stroker would pull down low, 06 95" was happy at 1500rpm. At 400 miles the bike has no *****,none, I was hoping a stage 1 would put it about equal to the 1550,but unless they haven't dropped out yet,its not gonna happen, fuel mileage is 40 even, in all fairness 400 miles, hope things change there. An odor seems to follow the bike like a half ton chevy pickup pulling a fifth wheel trailer over a hill, assume its the cats burning off,you cant smell it constantly, but often enough.Over all happy, great bike just needs some motor, maybe I should have bought the limited?

Thank you god for the funds to buy the bike,
Thank you Harley Davidson for building it.

Give it 5000 miles; it will run a lot better. My 09 was sluggish and poor performing for the first few thousand miles but now at 10k its better. One thing that won't change is that it will continue to dislike anything below 2K rpm.

Take the money you saved from not buying the limited and build your engine the way you want it.

A stock 103 isn't much to write home about.

Congrats on the new ride!

I loved my limited the first time I rode it....was a huge improvement over my 03' fatboy......then when the Ultra hit about 2100 miles.....it changed.....I swear...it feels like a totally different bike.....I guess it just needed to open up/loosen up and break in........keep it over 3,000 rpm and it rocks...plenty of power....love the handling...it leans a lot further than the fatboy before it rubs......it handles very well.....love going fast in the twistys on this bike.......

Mine is still totally stock.....can't wait for the new cams/exhaust and tune.....it's going to be amazing.....
