Sorry to say I sold my sportster. It's been gone a week already and I'm getting antsy to ride. I'm looking at Roadkings and was wondering if KBB( kelly blue book) is about right what the going pricing is. I want to spend about 10 to 12 thous. Let use an example. 2001 RK approx 11400 value. It has 4000 miles on it. How much does the low mileage increase value?
500, 1000,2000?
Thanks
NADA is a more realistic resource and is what most dealers go by. I believe KBB is a little over inflated on their prices.
Agreed. I use the KBB Retail Value price as a "don't pay more than this" and usually a lot less. A good deal is halfway between the KBB Retail Value (high) and the KBB Trade-In value (low).

I think that you need to take both KBB who may be somewhat over inflated and NADA of which is somewhat under inflated. Add the 2 together, and divide by 2 and then add on some(10-15% for extras like low milage and custom stuff). I think that then you will have a very fair price of what the bike is worth, and it will not insult the seller. I heard that "they" say that 6300 is about average miles per year for a bike.
Thanks for all the input. Well KBB and NADA are about a couple hundred from each other. The guy is asking more then the books are saying. But neither have any thing for mileage. With on 4000 miles on the bike how much value would it increase? Just a ball park.
Also are bikes selling around book values? I've been watching evil pay but bikes have not been selling and the ones that are, are not in my area.
Thanks

If he is asking more than KBB or NADA than I would let him keep it. Mileage really doesn't count for much nor do accessories. That's just the way it is. Keep in mind the NADA values are what a dealer would ask. So if it's a private party then he has no over head or commissions to pay. There are lots of good deals out there. If you are happy with the deal then that's all that matters.
