Default KBB values??

Sorry to say I sold my sportster. It's been gone a week already and I'm getting antsy to ride. I'm looking at Roadkings and was wondering if KBB( kelly blue book) is about right what the going pricing is. I want to spend about 10 to 12 thous. Let use an example. 2001 RK approx 11400 value. It has 4000 miles on it. How much does the low mileage increase value?
500, 1000,2000?
Thanks

You might get more RK knowledge in the Touring section. However, the KBB takes mileage into account for cars, so I would assume that it also does for bikes. Have you checked the website? I remember that it had a calculator where you put in year, mileage and all that crap before it gave you a number.

KBB does not take motorcycle mileage into consideration. You tell it the year, make, model, and what value you are looking for and it gives you their "book" value. It does not ask condition, mileage, etc. At least not the last time I booked a motorcycle. The "book" values are also way lower than what the current street value is as well. YMMV.

KBB values are very low compared to actual sales prices but then again, with the economy now, it is a buyer's market, so take your time and bargain hard. Can't hurt, no?

As for mileage, the calculator was MSN Autos that had the interactive values, but it was more like a range that affected the value, like 5-10,000 miles was 1 deduction, 10-15,000 was another one. You can put in whatever you have, but it won't matter until you hit that bracket. Not sure if they have one for the motorcycle.

True story. My dealership always starts $2 K higher than what the bike is worth. I suppose that way they can get more of what they want out of it, maximixing their profit and bottom line, where as if an the individual is selling it they not in a position to do this and cannot afford to do this, other wise they probably wouldn't be able to sell it...
