Just put the v&h slip ons on the 07 street glide , with no other mods. so far I am very happy with the sound . Nice rumble at a idle good sound when you get on it, not too loud at criusing speed . I am a little worried that the header pipe glows red at top but the dealer claims this is normal.Thinking of getting one of those fuel pac v&h units. Anyone use one of those? Will H-D give me warranty problems if I use that?
I don't think so. As you're likely aware of 1st is geared pretty low and I was letting the engine slow me down. I hear what you mention but I wouldn't call it 'whine'. 5th gear on the other hand does have a 'whine' to it but I believe that's due to it being the only 'cut' gear and the noise is normal, no cause for alarm and I wouldn't classify it as a defect or issue.
My 07 has no trans noise as of yet nor glowing pipes.Bike as of now has no upgrade kits nor any ecm updates.Dealer told me none of his bike owners have complained on trans issues yet.Although different fluid is being used.
Same here in that I've seen no evidence of the glowing pipes at the head......that would scare me right back to the dealer. I did get some 'serious' blueing on my pipes from the front head down along the pipe at least two feet. My only complaint is that it is very visible in between the upper and lower cosmetic/heat shields where the front pipe makes its bend near the front foot rest.
Anyone else out there get serious bluing this far down the pipe.......the damn pipe right at the head looks better than it does further out. I can upload a photo too if anyone is curious.
With regards to the 5th gear noise, it is barely noticeable and I wouldn't have even picked up on it without hearing about it on this forum and then tuning into it.
It's the HD Screamin Eagle race tuner. My dealer recommended it over the power commander as they stated they have had 'ok' luck with the PC module. This dealer also has a dedicated technician who was attended some form of 2 week training on properly tuning/mapping these units and his only job at this dealer is tuning bikes and running the dyno.....for whatever that is worth.'
I'll have my results, dyno maps before and after, as well as my personal experience with the new setup Saturday of this week and will post the results at that time.
i love that statement from aLL HD dealerships. we have had "ok" luck with PCIIIs, LOL!!!!! Seems the only people who have had ok luck are dealership employees. Most Jap bikes run a PCIII. Most race bikes are running PCIII. Dynojet says that they have no more returns on HD model PCIIIs then any other model. And none are excessive.
I just had the SE Race Tuner, SE Air Intake and SE Performance Pipes put on my 2007 SG.
Prior to installation my SG rode lean, hot and sounded like a pumped up honda.
Needless to say, I'm happy - my SG sounds right and I can really feel the performance gains. Nice rumble and a healthy bark when I grab a handful of throttle. Sounds similar to D's SG - thanks for posting the video!! Don't know which sounds better, his or mine, but I don't think any 2007 owner running a stock setup will be disappointed with either the V&H or the SE Performance slip-ons - but I think you'll want to get the SERT instead of the update, sure made mine ride right.
