By the way, it's a simple swap. You will need to remove the outer fairing. The rubber boot holds the switch in on the front and simply gets unscrewed. You can then pull it out and install the new one.
Thanks a lot! That was just what I needed to know.
I guess you should have got the air conditioned model if you cant ride in below 100* heat! Good thing you dont live in Phoenix you'd only ride about 3 days a year!

I came to that conclusion for several reasons:
1. The switch does not work
2. All other electrical items work properly
3. No fuses are blown
4 the dealer says there have been other 2010 models with switches gone bad.
If it were you, you are more than free to do whatever you want with your bike, so have at it. I, on the other hand, prefer to pay $12.95 for the switch, install it at my leisure, and eliminate the 300 mile trip in the 97 degree heat we are having here in Mississippi.
For the record, I would advise not getting snarky with Dawg. He's probably forgotten more about Harleys than most of us, myself included, will ever know.

Yep, Dawg's the MAN, and He deserves Our RESPECT!!!!!!!!!!
So, I'm on my way to Sturgis this year (first time there). I get about 1/5 of the way there and while starting the bike after lunch I get a "diag" message on my Speedometer/odometer window. I noticed that the time display changed from 12 hr to 24 hr and instead of displaying the clock it was now diplaying the mileage. It was pure luck that I happened to be two miles from a dealer, so after traveling six miles I finally arrived. Service manager stated that the problem was with the switch which needed replacement. He also said that the bike would not have any mechanical problems and it was ok to ride. A year earlier, I upgraded the stock speedometer with another HD speedometer with more bells and whistles. It has done it three to five other times since. In your opinions, do you guys think simply replacing the switch would take care of the problem as the service manager stated??? Picked one up today.
