For those of you who used the vinyl quarter round to attach the plasma rods, what type of double-sided tape did you use to attach it to the fascia? Do I need to use some type of tape specifically designed for auto or motorcycle applications so it will stick in various climate conditions?
Thanks!
I used industrial strength velcro. That way I can remove them if need be.....or use the 3M brand automotive brand 2 sided tape that they use to stick emblems, moldings, etc on cars.
Truly AMAZING!!! Your bike looks exactly like mine! How is this even possible!?!?!?! Some idiot tried to modify me and mine last night by rear ending me. Luckily for me quick reflexes and a popped clutch got me out of there real quick and in a hurry! May have to really consider these rods.
Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. I like the clean, minimalist look of the SG run/brake/turn lights, but they aren't the most noticeable lights when you have to hit the brakes. I'm hoping the plasma lights can improve my visibility while allowing me to retain the clean look of the rear fender.
I like the quarter round idea, but how do they mount if u don't use the quarter round? Anyone have pics?
Before I used the quarter round molding I tried putting them on and didn't like the way they sat on there. First of all the rear fascia is not flat so they didn't sit right. Second the LED did not face the right way so that was out. The corner round material sat right in the fascia perfectly and it also gave the LED a good flat place to stick to. The PVC quarter round won't deteriorate and if you paint the top end black you'll never see it. (See the 1st picture)
First of let me say I installed the plasma rods with the turn/brake feature And mounted them to the 3/4 trim like the fellow member suggested and Dennis from custom dynamics walked me through the wiring process. I love the look and would score Dennis and Custom Dynamics top shelf A-PLUS!. I would recommend there products to everyone!!!!!!!!! THX DENNIS!!!!!!!!!
Thanks to Overdoo and using his 3/4 round idea, I installed the plasma lights yesterday. Very easy install. I waisted more time trying to find the 6 pin connector behind the left side cover plate. Of course it had to be the one buried in the back and not the ones in the front.
This has to be one of simplest and nicest install you can do. It keeps to the Street Glide theme of the clean and simple rear look of the bike. Best of all the lights are 90% invisible. On my Scarlet Red bike the lights appear to jump out of nowhere and really stand out when on.
Thanks to Overdoo and this forum for showing this nice install.
