That's because most of us are naturally right handed and left legged...

Ah, those were the days! Some of them had first gear down, while on others first was up. Vincents had two side-stands, one on the right!

As for riding on the left, the whole of the British Isles does it, also Japan and many other countries around the World, even some of the West Indies, if you want to enjoy riding on the 'proper' side of the road!

As for yuor 2nd guess, European drive on the right side same as us. It's the Brits that seem to be on the wrong side of the road.
Hey, that is bang out of order, Brits defined convention first, then the French decided to drive on the other side - just to be bloody awkward. The way I see it, that makes you a French supporter :-)

I did hear a stat once that there are more right hand drive cars in the world than left hand drive. Sounds bizarre but apparently true

Im guessing:

A: throwback to bicycles, which Motorcycles evolved from, and which had the gears on the left.

B: Most people are right side dominant. Thats the leg your gonna be holding the bike up with while putting the stand down with your left.

There was a meeting held back in the early 1900's and they voted on what side to put the stand on. Reason was for parking spaces delegation at police stations.

This is not so. Just went out and looked at my bike and the jiffystand is on the right! Wait.....never mind. I was looking at it from the front.

Won't that interfere with your getting an accurate oil level reading?
