I wear the Vega XTS naked. Fit and comfort is very good. No matter what, you get a bit of a mushroom head with any DOT helmet, but this is about the best you can do. I tried on an ACC helmet (before the recall) and found the difference insignificant. If you follow a size chart for Vega helmets, you should be OK. It will also fit inside a saddlebag. They are for sale at Jafrum.com for around $55 if you can't find one elsewhere. They ship for free for over $100. I got one on ebay that was new with tags and in the box for about $36 shipped. I also got a quick connect for the strap (the Echo one) and glued the extra strap to itself with some handlebar grip adhesive, although Superglue gel may also work.
I tried the Vega helmet, but it didn't fit well. That said, you probably just have to try it to see if it fits your shape head. I got an Outlaw helmet that fits me well. It was just $34 and it's DOT certified. It's more 'mushroomy' than the ACC helmets, but that just goes with the DOT territory I guess...
My wife and I like and wear Vega helmets because they are not a wide as normal helmets and fit our heads better. Other helmets make me look like I have a bowl on my head and I am getting a haircut (sometimes called a bowl cut). They might be too narrow for some heads.
Been wearing the Vega XTS with the vents for the last several months and really like it. Doesn't give you the mushroom look nearly as bad as most of the others.
I've had a Vega XTS Naked Gloss Black a little of 1 yr and I absolutely love it! It's my primary riding helmet. Construction seems good and it fits true to size. I think I got mine from Motorcycle Superstore I think around $50. I see they offer removal ear pads now I've heard good things about need to pickup some.
Thanks guys, I think I'll try one out..the big question other than comfort and fit was does it fit in a side bag and that got answered...ride safe fellas..
