Default UltraCoolFL vs HD oil cooler

I am trying to decided which one to get for my RoadKing. Wondering if anyone has either and what are your thoughts as to which might be a better choice.

I never had the Ultra. Hope you can get someone who has one to chime in. I have the HD oil cooler and it works great. It has a thermostat, no electrics or fan, and supported at all HD dealers. It does cool the oil 20-25 degrees at highway speed.

My first customer who bought the Ultra Cool installed it last week. He said that he had a Harley oil cooler prior to the ultra cool and the cooling difference is unbelievable. The ultra cool works far better.

I don't run an oil cooler on my bike so I don't have firsthand experience either way.

hey drew rick here like i said befor this oil cooler is the bomb sinse then i installed a factory temp gauge on my streetglide.tonite was cooler then it has been here in the valley but my temp would not exceed 190. day befor yesterday it was alot warmer here the temp on the bike went up to 220 max and stood there all day. anyway the op wants to know the differance between the HD premium cooler and the ultra cool there is a huge differance the premium is ok while your running get in stop and go and my rear cylinder would shut off. not anymore the bike runs so good it doesnt idel high like they do when they get hot at least mine did. and it wouldnt stall but came close all i can say dont waste your money for the premium cooler buy the ultra cooler from drew. in fact i called drew and told him 2 of my friends are buying this coming week. drew my friend will be calling u next week for a ultra cool. thanks drew iam very happy i bought this from u. and dr. v-twin has the greatest customer support , prices, and super fast shippin for a few dollars more i would buy the ultra cool oil cooler sorry for the book but i cant say enough about this product. op if u buy one and get confused with the directions let me know i have a little cleaner install and u dont have any wires showing and that goes to anyone else who buys one.

I replaced my stock 6-row oil cooler with a Jagg 10-row cooler and a Big Sky oil cooler fan and they work well. I did not know of the Ultra Cooler at the time I did the mod; however, if I did, I would have gone with the Ultra Cooler! It’s a nice neat looking install and I like the idea of the 16-row cooler.

I think either is better than nothing, but whether or not it's needed is the great debate of all.

Personally, I can't stand the way the Ultra-Cool looks so I won't go for it. I know that's not the best reason NOT to buy something, but considering my bike runs fine without one all together, I might as well buy the one I like looking at more . I'm sure both are good for the bike, a cooler engine can't be a bad thing.

I guess “looks” are one of those subjective things and in the eye of the beholder! I saw an Ultra Classic with the Ultra Cooler and it almost ”ALMOST” looked like it belonged there.

I live in the Southwest desert with about 8 months of 100* + days so I may have become a little less about worried looks and more concerned about cooling down my engine.

The Ultracool is really neat, but I think I'd rather have a regular oil cooler like the Jagg (or whatever choice you like) combined with a Lenale fan. Reason being the fan will put air on the rear jug. Seems like a better use of fan/cooler combo.
