Just wanted to give a sponsor here props! Ordered up 2 sets of the HS30's last week for the Ultra, these are the headsets that mount in a full face helmet or flip. Install was easy and more importantly they work great.
I recently bought a pair of behind the head headsets for my newly installed Boom Audio (HD) intercom on my Road Glide. We used them for the first time this past weekend.
First, the stereo sound is outstanding. 1/3 volume is plenty.
Second, the intercom sound quality is very good. Almost no wind noise even at 80.
Keep in mind that we both wear half helmets so the mics are in the wind so to speak. I was worried that this would affect the intercom. I'm happy to say that it didn't.
There is only one thing I would put on my wish list. It would be a inline volume control for the passenger so she doesn't have to reach for the volume control. I doubt this is even possible considering the way the HD system is wired.
Thanks IMC for the great product.
BTW, is it true that you make the headsets for HD?
Unfortunately, I had to return 2 IMC HS30 headsets to the retailer. I could not get either one of the mics to work on my 2001 HD EG Ultra, despite setting the intercom's VOX sensitivity level and volume to its highest. When connecting it to the 7 pin Din on the console, it disabled the intercom and CB functions on the console. Still looking for a set that will work.
I tried to install the HD headset that came with the motorcycle but did not like the way it attached to the helmet. Found the IMC products on this forum and decided to order two sets HS H30 to replace the set that came with the motorcycle and one for my wife.
Ordered on the 11th and received on the 12th (wow) and the shipping was free.
Took about 30 minutes to install in both HJC SyMaxII helmets and they work great on my bench test. We plan to take an extensive ride this weekend and will provide a more detailed report when we get back.
Abell Inc. (IMC) great customer service.
Thanks,
