Default TTS Tuning ????

I got my final map completed and took a 150 mile test ride. My gas milage with up from 32mpg to 40mpg with some heavy throttle. Throttle response was good and smooth within the entire fuel band. I think I got about a 75-80% good tune. I had a good amount of yellow boxes and pink cells and when I blended the VE table, I tried to look at a patteren and used the best numbers to blend. Can anyone tell me when making VTune runs what the best riding method to get a good tune. Have anyone..after making their Vtune run got most of all the cells to turn white and/or light pink?

Yes! In fact, I just completed a series of 3 vtunes over the weekend and had only a couple light pink cells.

As far as a best method, a smooth application of the throttle at various RPM/loads seems to work well.

I like to use a combination of slow, neighborhood rides along with some highway miles to get to some of the upper throttle/load areas and that emulates my riding habits.

Remember that you can do more vtunes to address those pink cells. My suggestion would be to do those with a similar fuel and similar outside conditions to maintain a more consistent tune. My personal preference is to use one tank of fuel and complete all vtunes within a couple hours from the first to the last.

Hope that helps!

I found that the easiest way to do it was on a hot day, with a passenger, in the mountains. You can really load the engine that way.

With a 2008, I'd suggest also using a piece of masking tape on the throttle and marking off 10 equal increments, as your bike is tuned using throttle position.
